Simon Fraser University, Vancouver (2011 —)
SFU consistently ranks as Canada’s #1 comprehensive university. I have held several teaching positions at SFU since 2011. In Spring 2023 I was Writer-in-Residence and Visiting Professor in the Department of World Languages and Literatures, teaching an undergraduate special topic course ‘1001 Ways to Tell A Story’. I have previously been an Adjunct and Visiting Professor at SFU’s Canadian Institute for Studies in Publishing (2011-2015) . I am currently the Co-Chair (with President & Vice-Chancellor Joy Johnson) of the University’s India Advisory Council.

Srishti School of Art, Design & Technology, Bangalore (2010)
I was Visiting Faculty in the Visual Communication Design Program. Working with Kumkum Nadig, Head of the Program, I blueprinted a Visual Culture course on Indian street art and popular culture, inviting students to engage, research and investigate their surroundings to unearth the social, historical and material contexts that shape them. Several of the students have grown their final projects into published books and widely exhibited art installations.

University of Kent, Canterbury (2007)
I was awarded a Charles Wallace India Trust (CWIT) Fellowship to spend an academic term in the winter of 2007 as Writer-in-Residence at the University of Kent. The fellowships are awarded to early/mid-career academics in the humanities and also writers and translators. I was hosted by Dr. Caroline Rooney of the School of English and interacted with students and faculty members, including Professor Abdulrazak Gurnah, winner of the 2021 Nobel Prize in Literature.

Lectures, Workshops and Keynotes (2006 —)
I have spoken, lectured and delivered keynotes at several educational institutions around the world. These include the University of British Columbia, Langara College, Kwantlen University and Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Canada. I have delivered lectures at the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, and Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore in India. An example of the way I engage students is this ‘special topics’ class at SFU’s School for Contemporary Arts. Project website
